Sailflags, a UK-based manufacturer of high-quality promotional flags, has released findings that show a measurable uplift in foot flow for businesses using feather flags outside their premises. The study, conducted in early 2025, found that businesses displaying feather flags reported, on average, a 50% increase in customer footfall compared to those without visible outdoor signage.
The findings come at a time when many high street retailers and independent businesses are looking for cost-effective ways to attract customers. Feather flags—portable, eye-catching, and weather-resistant—have proven particularly effective for shops, car dealerships, events, cafes, and trade stands.
The research analysed the experiences of over 100 small businesses across the UK. Participants were asked to display feather flags for a two-week period and monitor changes in walk-in traffic. The results indicated consistent increases in foot flow, especially in high-traffic or roadside locations.
